What about the private schools that have been giving them out before the public?
From what I understand a student has to have permission from parent/guradain.
It's a service for those that choose to vaccinate their childern.

I don't see the problem with it. I don't think they should 'force' it, but if it's an option to get it to them soon then that's great. In our area H1N1 has been a huge issue in our schools, and many many kids have already come down with it. And seeing how you walk around with it for 2 weeks before coming down with it. It could save many kids from getting very sick or dieing.
If parents do not have a problem with their child getting the shot then I don't see the problem. I would think parents (who are planning to give their child the shot) would be excited that the schools were doing it and they don't have to stand in a 3 hour line.
Who's paying for the shots if they are given out in the schools-government or parents?
I think it's a great service. Perhaps this gets the shot to students who otherwise would not have access to it.
To my knowledge, this is not happening in my area.
If it isn't forced then whatever, but I do not think they should force it at all or do it without parent permission.
Also, who is paying for it????
I think it's fine as long as the parent approves.
I think it is GREAT. Especially for those who do not receive proper health care and are more at risk for severe symptoms. It is free and optional. I think they would be better served to offer the "regular" flu vaccine annually.
Yes I'm glad they are doing it. People who want it, it makes it easier for them. They didn't pressure at all and I just said no and it was no biggie. However, I will say we were watching PBS Sid the Science Kid this morning and it was about vaccination day at school and everyone needed to get one so they won't get some nasty virus! The H1N1 ended up being much milder than anticipated. The people who die have other problems or they don't go to the doctor when they get sick so it gets really bad. As soon as we got a fever we got tested, had it, got medication, and the next day were bouncing off the walls. I believe in getting the body's immune system stronger and them getting it and fighting it off helps that process. I think it is a blessing for those that want it though.

I agree 11:20!! FREE and no waiting in lines. I am all for it! I was excited when I heard our schools were doing this--very helpful for those that don't have good insurance or money to pay for the shots.
And, by helping kids from families that wouldn't otherwise get the shots, you are helping your kids as well. Even if you don't want to get the shot, it would mean there are fewer carriers at school.
When kids are well, they learn better. I see this as win-win.
What's the downside?
Yes, its 'free' because your tax dollars are paying for it. Just like government health care would be 'free'.

Yeh, ya relly gotta watch that slippery slope business! We really lucked out with those gummnt sponsored polio shots. And that state-sponsored clean water business, why not let every citizen pay for their own water treatment. If you can afford it, yo must be a fine upstanding citizen. If not, well, then shame on ya! And while we're at it, how 'bout everybody just crap in their own back yard! We don't need no stinking government!
