How do you sabotage yourself from getting what you want? (submitted question. Thanks!)

By not taking care of me. I say yes to many other things and don't say yes to me. Like the word 'no' is a bad word. It must be the christian, female, wife and mother in me.

Eating to much funk food or unhealthy food...it tastes so good!

I agree with both comments #1 and #2! I do both--and it's so hard to stop. I've gotten better at saying no, but I'm not great at it yet. And, with Halloween just past, the junk food problem is in full swing.

I just don't put forth the effort

I eat and sit on the couch and watch t.v. Oh how I wish I was skinny...

By eating out too much. We want to be debt-free, but we eat out so much, that it's like two steps forward and one step back. We try to eat at home more, but we're so busy... by the time dinner is ready, we have to hurry and eat before one of us is headed out the door again. We seem to get more family time when we eat out.

Negative self talk.

I have conversations in my head that result in me not even trying to do something because I have already defeated myself.

For me, sabotage is all about listening to the Father of Lies.

It is so easy to play his lies in my head: "Your effort won't make a difference because you have so much to work on."

"You don't deserve it."

"You just aren't meant to be that way."

Some of those ideas have kernels of truth in them. Yes, I have a lot to work on. Yes, results are slow. Nobody really deserves anything, but that is what is so wonderful about grace. And yes, I am unique, and not to be just like the people to whom I compare myself.

I have a constant struggle to throw off the sin that so easily entangles!!

i agree with 8, the evil one tells me again and again that i am no good, that i can't do anything right, so why bother.

Lack of confidence and fear of how pursuing what will make me happy could have a negative effect on someone else.
